چکیده
12 Two large groups of fingerling (3.2g) male European sea bass (around 75,000 13 individuals each) reared in net sea cages for a period of two years were exposed to two 14 different photoperiods starting in June: either ambient photoperiod (37o 24 ́ N) (NP) or a 15 constant long photoperiod (LP; 18 hours light: 6 hours dark, 18L: 6D). Long days had limited 16 effect on somatic growth at the time of incipient gonad development (IGD, 1 st annual cycle; 17 November-March), while they were effective at the time of full gonad development (FGD, 2 nd 18 annual cycle). Moreover, the annual patterns of morphological indices, i.e., Fulton’s condition 19 factor (CF), visceral fat index (VFI) and particularly gonadosomatic index (GSI), were 20 delayed by one or two months as the result of the long days compared to the control group 21 (NP). LP did not prevent the onset of puberty but delayed spermiation by one month, and 22 modified accordingly the phase and/or amplitude of the annual rhythms of pituitary 23 Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (sbGnRH) content and plasma levels of Luteinising 24 Hormone (LH) and sex steroids, particularly that of 11-Ketotestosterone (11-KT). In general, 25 high levels of sbGnRH (≥4 ng/pit) were associated with elevated plasma LH (1-3 ng/ml at 26 *Manuscript

Continuous light and melatonin: daily and seasonal variations of brain binding sites and plasma concentration during the first reproductive cycle of sea bass.
The present study reports on the daily and seasonal variations in plasma melatonin concentration, and also in optic tectum and hypothalamus melatonin binding sites, in male European sea bass maintained under natural photoperiod (NP) or continuous light (LL) from early stages of development. Samples were collected on a 24-h cycle, at four physiological phases of their first annual reproductive c...
متن کاملGrowth Parameters of Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) escaped from sea cages in the coast of southern Caspian sea
Rainbow trout is one of the 100 exotic invasive species in the world, and the biological characteristics of evaporated specimens of marine cages on the coast of Mazandaran including sex ratio, length and weight relationship, and growth are necessary. In order to study the rainbow trout growth parameters, 90 specimens of this species were collected from October 2017 to May 2019 from catching bon...
متن کاملInduced spermiation of rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, using a GnRh analogue
In this study, the benefits of using the first Iranian made GnRHa[D-Ala6 des Gly10] mGnRH ethylamide, to induce spermiation in male rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, were evaluated, In addition, its effect on acceleration and synchronization, quality and quantity of milt and the plasma Testosterone (T) fluctuations were examined. For these purposes, 40 non-spermiating male rainbow trouts were...
متن کاملEffects of continuous light on the reproductive system of European sea bass gauged by alterations of circadian variations during their first reproductive cycle.
The European sea bass is a short-day breeder, a characteristic that is highly valued in aquaculture. A high percentage of males of this species mature precociously before reaching commercial size, resulting in economic losses for fish farmers. We investigated the effects of continuous light (LL) on the circadian variations of several reproductive hormones in males of this species in order to un...
